The forest house
At the heart of the estate stands the former forest house, built in 1881 at the edge of the Bercé Forest. Its date is still carved in the stone above a window.
Restored, with its beams, wooden floor and fireplace, it is now the heart of the venue: a place to gather for meals, meetings and celebrations.
Then greenery took root in the architecture…
The architecture
It was around this house that Édouard François and Duncan Lewis created the hamlet of Les Tropes, in 1997. Their founding idea: accommodation you can't see, blending into nature and the nearby forest.
They took inspiration from birds' nests: each chalet is nestled into the ground and entirely surrounded by green walls. You live sheltered, as in a nest, among the trees.
Numerous picture windows open every room onto the forest, around the pool and a few steps from the forest house.
